Simple network (DHCP) question

Hi, we have 2 wireless devices as follows:-

TP-LINK(ADSL+router+wireless access point) -> connected via ethernet -> D-LINK wireless access point (to extend wireless)

How do I setup DHCP on the D-LINK? At the moment I think this is dishing out duplicate IP addresses and so we are getting symptoms like -wireless printer has problem connecting to a network- and have seen -duplicate IP address-

I'll read up on this but guess we should have both devices dishing out IP addresses in DIFFERENT ranges OR the D-LINK provides a different wireless network altogther. What is best practise please?

    Agreed - the D-link should simply extend the network to keep it simple with everything on the same network range and being handled by a single DHCP server on the router.

    Just had time to get back to this. I've inherited this network (same as one in the original post)

    TP-LINK modem/router/wireless access point ->ethernet-> D-LINK wireless access point.

    I've just gone to look at the D-LINK and ...its not there... I cannot see its IPaddress on the LANlist at the TP-LINK. Its almost as if its an "addressless bit of wire than converts ethernet signal to wireless signal" What is going on!?

    e.g. If I run a PC which I KNOW is using the wireless network from the D-LINK and do "tracert 192.168.1.1" -the gateway of the TP-LINK it goes directly to the TP-LINK with no "hops". Its like a bit of wire.
