could someone please tell me whether im within my right to ask for copies of all telephone transactions to tax credits and what their operators wrote on the system along with copies of all tax credit award notices do they have to honour my request ? i want this information from day 1 til present day as they are saying i have overpayments of thousands dating back to 2003 because mainly of changes in circumstances however when i challenge this i get conflicting answers the letter i received today regarding one lot said i never informed them which i know i did yet when i speak to advisors they can tell me the exact date i did inform them if that makes sense....not that there is ant sense in this area...

You have to ask for a Subject Access Request for all those details. However there may be difficulty getting copies of telephones calls from the very beginning because I don't think they recorded all phone calls in the very early days. Theres no harm in making the request though and you are within your rights doing so.

thanks pam ive actually just been given an address you can right to and you can request all information kept on you regarding tax credits including any made during telephone calls and receive a cd or something on all recorded telephone calls under the data protection act
