Shabbey Abbey Not Even Bothered to Read Letter!!!

Received my copy statements .... found just over £1000 to claim back (including interest). Covers 3 accounts, one of which was joint with now ex-OH.

To avoid complication or reason for delay, got a letter signed by ex-OH to say I am authorised to act on his behalf regarding this account only and that any correspondence from me should be considered to represent his view too. Have made copies of this letter to enclose with all correspondence.

Abbey have written their first reply to my letter - quoting only the old joint account (no mention of the other two accounts) - and addressed it to my OH at my address (where he has never lived!!!!!!).

Rang them to ask why - was told they looked up the first account and picked him as the person to reply to, as they can only reply to one - so they have clearly ignored the facts that:

1. the other two accounts are in my name only
2. ex-OH has given me authority (letter enclosed) to deal on his behalf
3. I have not given authority for ex-OH to deal with my accounts
4. ex-OH has never resided at my address - his address is still the one that the joint account was held at (I moved out)
5. Letters not addressed to me cannot legally be opened by me (think I'm correct in this)

What a bunch of t****rs!

Told them that despite their letter (which I obviously opened illegally!) assures me of their best and swift attention I have absolutely no confidence that this is the truth as they have clearly not bothered to even read the facts I have presented them with!

Vent over!

Intend to now write a stiff letter of complaint, as well as separately giving them 14 days to respond before I lodge small claims court action.
