Ridiculous labelling

This may or may not be in the correct forum but I have just bought a large jar of pickled gherkins from Lidl and I have been reading the label. It is printed as usual in about twenty different languages but the English version is different to the others. It says that "once opened, please refrigerate and consume withing three days" Now, it it virtually impossible to eat the whole jar in three days, (you would probably be quite ill) but this does not seem to apply to the rest of Europe. They are probably taking advantage of us gullible British who adhere to whatever is said on the tin. I, for one, take absolutely no notice of sell by dates or best before dates. As long as it is refrigerated and used within a reasonable time, it's ok. I have been ignoring dates for years now, and I have never been ill through eating "out of date" items. In fact, I buy them when they are going out of date. They're cheaper!

I'm guessing there was a mistake when they got the label translated into all those different languages, and it should say three months instead of three days.0

No, there's no mistake. It is definitely 3 DAYS and having some knowledge of European languages, this is only stated on the English translation.0

Its probably more to do with British FDA rather than Lidl trying to dupe us.
As a thought, why dont you consume the entire contents within three days. When your ill you could sue Lidl for millions! However you must give a share of your millions to me since I had the bright idea!0 -
Deal! It is getting ridiculous though, I even saw instructions on a product saying to be careful after taking it out of the oven, as it may be hot!0

I recently bought a new ironing board cover, and it said on the packaging, "not to be used on beds, playpens or cots". Why would I put an ironing board cover in any of those places? Here I go again on my own....0

One of my easter eggs this year came in a mug. On the bottom of the mug it said 'After being put in the microwave, mug may be hot'
Surely that would be why I'd put it in the microwave...Total abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself. Oscar Wilde0 -
