New to renting, have some questions

Hey all,
Looking for rental places for my next year at uni out of halls, looking for 2 bed or 1 bed places to share with my girlfriend and I've got some questions.
If it's a 1 bed, would they increase the cost to us if we were to share the space?
What bills could I generally expect per month/week, I know it depends on the house but any general ideas?
I've seen a 2 bed house for £850pc, it does not mention per person per week, so I guess that is the price we will have to split?
Sorry if they are newbie questions, just don't want to get anything wrong

If you are being offerred a contract (tenancy agreement) for a property (house/flat) on a "joint and several" basis, then that is what you pay for the property.
You and your mate(s) will have to pay the rent between you. The landlord will not care whether you pay it all, your mate pays it all, or you pay 50% each.
Similarly, if you do NOT pay the rent, the LL can (and will) chase either of you, or both/all of you, for the FULL rent: he will not chase you for half and your mate for half - that is what "joint and several responsibility" means.
On the other hand, if you each have totally seperate contracts, for a ROOM in a property (plus shared use of the kitchen etc), then you are not responsible for each other's rents.
Hope this helps you understand the different contract types you might come across.0
