crash for cash advice

hi all basically the misses was involved in a crash last week
were the car in front slammed on for no reason.
our insurance have been intouch saying that the driver an all 3 passengers are claiming for whiplash.
they also said that they are contesting the claim due to speed of impact, reaon for stopping, and the fact he was only insured 4 days prior to the crash.

i know technically it her fault for hitting his vehicle.

just wanted to ask if the our insurance contest the claim and prove it to be a crash for cash scam

can i claim against his insurance for damages to my vehicle?
and will he be done for danbgerous driving?

people doing this are putting lives at risk my 10 month old daughter was in the car
they need to set an example and jail them for endangering lives
sorry rant over

Heard people bragging about crash for cash scams, people make a lot of money. Sick system
"And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row."

  • Likely that the contest will not go very far - very hard to prove crash for cash claims. You can get whiplash at low speeds, whiplash is very easy to fake to Drs, and the driver can claim any number of reasons as to why he stopped (although he doesn't have to as your wife should have left a reasonable distance). Length of policy has nothing to do with it.

All in all it will probably wind up less expensive for your insurers to accept liability than to challenge it in court.

Yep, sounds like a set up. Could try getting in touch with these:

Have you mentioned to your insurance company that you suspect foul play? Or vice versa even...

    hi thegirlintheattic

she was driving at a resonable disatance, the lane she was in carries on for another mile or so, but you can move over to another lane. he didnt have an indicator on my wife was moving over into the other lane.
she has looked in her mirror he slammed on.

his reason for slamming on was he thought the white chevrons on the road meant stop.

there are clear road signs stating
    no stopping
vehicle from the right have priority

    cheers for replying

I think he was agreeing with you. :p
  • Tough one but unfortunately these cash for crash scams are all based on the premise it is easier for the insurance company to settle than to contest without some pretty compelling evidence. Unfortunately, 4 people in their car are likely to be more convincing that your wife given they will all back each other up.

I think you are on a hiding to nothing here :( which sucks and is exactly the reason I have just bought a dash cam.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

would that help? car in front slows unexpectedly, car behind runs into it

Car do slow expectedly all the time, confusion, something (real or imaginary) running into the road, mechanical failure etc etc. Can't really see what film of you running into the car in front is going to prove other than you were driving too close.

I'd guess pretty much the only way they are going to get caught is if the authorities can prove organisation and unless the people in the other car have history for being involved in other similar accidents that isn't going to happen.
