Homebase being naughty

Hello everyone!

I don't post on here very much but I was just wondering if anyone knew where I stood with the following..

I'm a poor student as my name suggests and I follow this facebook group "10 ways to have more money as a student, without working". If you haven't ever seen it it's worth a look they post some great things. It's basically how to make money from companies making errors. For example if things are scanning for the wrong price at certain supermarkets..

Anyway this morning they posted a link to a homebase product - it was fence panels that had been listed wrongly for a price of £0.00...
you had to pay for delivery and that was it.

I thought it was perfect for my parents for Christmas so quickly ordered 6 units.. The website obviously had major traffic because everyone wants to grab a bargain, but despite it taking a lifetime to load my order went through.

I was ecstatic!

And then an hour later I got an email claiming they were "out of stock" ... now they've obviously realised they've made a huge error...

But where do I stand as my order was accepted and it was in stock when I made the order?

Do i have a right to my purchase?
I just wanted to buy it for my parents darrnn it!

Thanks in advance

A very poor student :)

Hardly 'naughty' of Homebase that they won't make a loss on your order.

Anyway, what you want is all here... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3277262

Sorry no comeback I'm afraid, the contract is not fully formed until the good are sent. They are well within their rights to withdraw it.
Sounds like a mistake on Homebase's part.

No,you are not entitled to them.

As for 'I just wanted them for my parents' for Christmas:rotfl: Yeah, everyone buys people fence panels for Christmas...

Sure you weren't planning on selling them :p
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?
  • Well that is a shame!

    Thanks for the replies!

And @shegirl, I have no reason to lie, if I wanted to get them to make a profit I would have said so, it's not a crime. I assume anyone can get anything for Christmas, even if it's not to your taste.

Might want to change the title as Homebase haven't been 'naughty'

I find it slightly ironic you describe Homebase as being 'naughty' whilst you're trying to basically exploit their systems using what is an obvious error.

    • We try to make sure all prices on our website are accurate but sometimes errors might occur.
    • If we find a mistake in the price of online items you've ordered we'll tell you as soon as possible. You have the choice of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it. If we can't contact you we'll treat the order as cancelled. If you cancel but have already paid for your items, you'll get a full refund.
