When I went to use the printer today as soon as I turned it on the carriage just slams from one end to the other, the paper and ink cartridge lights are flashing.
I have tried the things suggested on the HP website but nothing seems to help.
Has anybody else had this problem or know of a solution.
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark
I've a psc 2110, so slightly older machine than yours, which has had exactly the same problem.
Basically the unit will be kn*ckered - which I'm sure you don't want to hear. Mine has been repaired 2x times under warranty has now gone again and is totally uneconomic to repair.
Last ditch attempt try https://www.repairyourownprinter.com - not much for your machine try another similar model number from the same 'family'.
HP machines often seem to have a problem with the print head transport mechanism. HP will be no help, the most the offered me was an exchange of my machine for a refurb with 3 months warranty for the bargain price of £111 - mine originally cost £120.
I've looked into getting it repaired via the agents John Lewis usually use, this will cost £60+. Their recommendation is that all brands are a bit duff, Brother being the worst for repairs, Canon and Epsom can artificially 'hobble' machines via the firmware so that they only supply a set number of prints before needing to be serviced (ie realistically thrown away). HP have reasonable reliability but expensive printing and most sheetfeed problems.
Oh, and I was advised that the most reliable printer was an old one, apparently these generally go for 2-3 times the lifespan of new machines as the build quality is far superior. Depressing isn't it?I do hope you're telling the truth?0
