Anything else I can try?

I've recently got hold of a replacement second hand AM2 motherboard.
All fitted and working fine with Win 8 preview, or so I thought yesterday.
I've just turned it on and the BIOS has reset to default.
It's got a new CMOS battery, but leaving it unplugged resets the BIOS.
I've removed the board from the case and have it on a piece of card with just power supply, one stick of RAM and a switch.
It still loses the BIOS settings.
Any suggestions to try?
I do have a short warranty.

Sounds as if the jumper to reset the bios could possibly have been left in the "clear" position, assuming that your new battery has been tested as good?0

Did check that, bit confused.
Jumper is set to 2+3, IME usually 2+3 is the 'clear' position.
I checked the mobo manual and it shows 1+2 as the 'clear' position.
I'm reluctant to 'power on' with it in the other position, due to possibly damaging it.
Battery is good, showing 3.2v.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Unless there's an obscure fault, you won't damage it by changing the position.zayt nisht meshugge0

If the battery is good and inserted correctly, and the BIOS clear jumper is correctly set, then I would have to suspect a fault on the motherboard. How do I add a signature?0

The safest option is to simply remove the jumper when the machine is powered down and then see if the settings are saved. Normally the jumper shorts out a resistor when in the 'clear cmos' position and is just parked in the other position, so it does not get lost. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Thanks for that, didn't appreciate that it was just a 'park' position.
Just tried espresso's suggestion, still reverting to defaults.
Ah well, it's got 60 days warranty.Move along, nothing to see.0
