Working Tax Credit and Council Tax

HI
I have recently started getting Working Tax Credit.
I now have to pay full council Tax since getting the WTC.
This doesnt seem right. THey give me money with one hand and take it away with the other. The council Tax is over £1000
After I have been on the WTC for a year it goes down by about £1000 then I will get 64P a month council tax benefit.
I've checked with the council and they say this is right
Doesnt seem fair to me

WTC doesnt stop or reduce the Council Tax payable. You may be able to claim Council Tax benefit, but that counts WTC/CTC as income.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
