Gulf Air to drop loss-making long-haul routes

As Gulf Air is losing $1 million a day it's restructuring its network and dropping a number of long-haul routes, including Sydney... doesn't say when though.
"We will stop operating to our heavily loss-making long-haul services to Dublin, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Sydney and Singapore. Instead, we will allocate more assets to better serve all important centres in the Gulf and the Middle Eastern region," added Mr Dose.

It's a shame. Anyone that ever used their Sky Nanny service to Sydney will really miss out on a godsend and great idea in helping your young one for the 24 hour journey to Oz.

Their prices and routes have been fab (great connections to Sri Lanka, used to fly to Dar es Salaam) and i've used them to Jakarta as great value. And their hostesses gave me 8 (half) bottles of wine to enter Jakarta with. And they have upgraded me several times!

However, their toilets were always crummy.

I gather the problems were with their aging Boeing fleet. I hope they pick themselves up and challenge Qatar, Emirates etc again.
