A friend has just bought a new PC (the PC is brand new, but the monitor is second hand), which I have installed for her and I have a couple of queries:
1. The vision on the monitor does not fit the screen - I can only see the whole screen by pointing the mouse so that is moved the screen up and down and left and right, I have tried changing the settings on the monitor and it doesnt work - it just makes the viewing screen smaller or larger, without allowing me to see everything (if that makes sense!?)
2. The keyboard settings seem to be wrong - when I try to type the 'at' sign - I get " - see that I could actually type the 'at' sign - I dont know how to change this?
3. The PC says that it comes with Windows Xp - does this mean that it should have Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint? I cant find them - although that might be because I cant see it properly because of the screen!
I would really really appreciate some help - thanks so much to anyone taking the time to read this.

1. Don't understand. There should be monitor controls to make sure that you can see the whole screen. If not, try changing the resolution.
2. Search the techie forum for "pound sign" (you have an american keyboard).
3. No, Office is a separate product, try openoffice which is free.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

How do you change the resolution?
What is openoffice?0 -
right click on desktop, properties . Are you sure there are no other controls on the monitor?

If shes uses just Powerpoint, Word and Excel then you can get the latest version Office 2007 Home and Student which has these programs and its new interface is great for around £90
and you can load it on 3 machines as well if need be.

By the way it looks like you can save another £10 off this if you use google checkout on ebuyer so around £78.0
