Amazon refusing their delivery

I ordered some things on Amazon - then tried to cancel one item as I saw it vastly cheaper elsewhere.
The cancellation failed but the email from Amazon said your welcome to refuse the delivery so it gets sent back - I can see tracking this item is coming on its own.
Is this the most economic way of returning it? I see if I accept it I could print a return label and send it back but at a certain cost to me. Is it cheaper to reject the initial delivery? I presume I must ensure I don't sign for it in that case.
Anyone done this? the website doesn't really cover it much.

Amazon issue return labels and will accept proof of postage from a Post office. You need to make a formal return request though once you have the item.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks but I know that much, the core of my question is if I refuse the delivery as Amazon suggested I do - will it cost me anything, or less than sending back by an Amazon return label having accepted the delivery?European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
If you refuse the delivery, it will cost you nothing.
I believe it depends on what you are sending back, there may be a postage charge.
Read the terms and conditions as to what is free and what is not. It#'s all there.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Thankyou, that is what I wanted to know, so Amazon won't charge me for the courier to take it back . It not mentioned anywhere I could find.
I do know what it will cost me to send back should I accept the item, as you say its in the terms.
Obviously free is cheaper. :TEuropean for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
