The eletric meter has now been changed and the gas is in the process of being changed as I write this.

Glad to hear it worked out for you in the end. We're still waiting for ours to be changed, I just posted about it before finding this thread. Was there anybody in particular who you spoke to who sorted it out for you in the end?0

I'm sorry to hear your sorry, bazra.
-- Update-
Yesterday was the SECOND TIME that their engineers have not turned up to change over the meter. The first time was because the engineer went to the wrong address.. which seems laughable to me considering I live on a cul-de-sac of houses, and the engineer supposedly went to flats by mistake.
I have no idea why no-one turned up yesterday as we were given a time slot of between 12-8pm... of course their office is closed by the time the appointment was missed.
We are even being dealt with by the executive complaints team because of this thread (the man helping us is very nice), but still no changed over meters!
It is the MOP (Meter Operators) for your area not the suppliers who actually come out to change the meters. The change of date maybe nothing to do with your supplier.
It is the Meter Operator for your area that changes the meter not the supplier. The supplier requests the Meter Operator to change the Meter.
However you do need to go back to your supplier (Npower) to chase up for another appointment. Athough all Suppliers have Standards of Service about failed appointments so you ***may *** be eligible for a set level of compensation in line with these industry levels (£20 for each failed appointment.
Word of warning though, if the Meter Operator contests this stating they did attend and were not able to get access (or no one in over age of 18) you may not be eligible because it is the Meter Operators word against yours.
Updated I see they have now changed the meters, but still suggest you contact them about the failed previous appointmentsSpelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0
