Spent £90 on grocery shopping yesterday which was £20 more than I had wished to spend. It was my neighbour's fault, she came around bragging about how much less her shopping bill was now she shopped at Iceland and not Morrisons, so off I trotted and spent £40 in there, however they didn't sell some stuff I needed, so I then went to Morrisons and ended up spending £50 *sigh*. And the £40 I spent in Iceland didn't go as far as £40 in Farmfoods.

On a positive side, I found £2.50 at the bottom of my handbag when I was looking for my inhaler (hooray) so I've promptly logged into internet banking and paid that off my Very balance (now £128.50 owing)

  • Would you mind if I borrowed your money in box ,purse bank layout in the new year it seems to work so well seeing exactly what you got to play with, I'm doing a swap to Iceland this week only so we don't need to use real cash as got a few hundred love2shop vouchers left over but your right farmfoods are at least a 1/3 cheaper especially for their meats etc...whoohoo @ kicking verys @rse !

Hello there Dreamy Welsh one. I need to keep stuff simple otherwise I get confused, so it works well for me, hopefully it will work for you. I shan't be rushing back to Iceland again, I didn't like how you had to leave your trollies in the store, and have to cart your carrier bags across the car park - is this just my store, or are they all like that? I'm going to revert back to Tesco on-line shopping after Christmas once all the bank holidays are done with.

  • Money in purse £8.80
    Money in change box £20.80
    Money in bank: £231.00
    Grand total: £260.60
Days til next pay day: 13

    Money debited:
£20.00 cash DH today (Some of this is for Christmas cards and money wallets)
    £10.00 cash DH yesterday
    £2.50 yesterday - Very payment
    £1.20 - post office
    £2.00 - DS1 bus fare

I am a tenner short in my purse but this is because I took £10 in change from DS1's wallet, to put in our change box, and replaced it with a £10 note from my purse but I forgot to deduct it from my money owing total.

No Very extra payments today which is disappointing. On my son's athletics club website it had said training finished last week so I could have paid £4 subs money off, but apparently last week his coach said training was ON this week after all, so will have to wait until Thursday before I can pay anything off (boo).

Mechanic neighbour sent DH a text to say the battery was £67 so we'll have to pay that soon.

Got told today my work are giving me a £25 bonus (they give £60 but I've only been there a month and wasn't expecting anything, so I am very appreciative of it, even though it is taxed and will only come to £16.66 after that...)

  • Am too cold to go searching for HSBC secure key so no money update today.

    12 days left til payday.

DS1 off school today with a virus. First thought was "ooh £1.50 that I will get refunded from school dinners that I can pay to Very", second thought was "hope the little blighter is alright" (jokes...)

Went to Morrisons to get him some own brand paracetamol but they didn't have any in stock so had to buy the more expensive Calpol brand.

I'm sat here on the sofa wearing my Uggs, a bobble hat, sat under a duvet and clutching a hot water bottle as all our heating appears to have packed in. Not sure what the problem is but rang a Heating Engineer who can't come out until next Thursday. I say packed in, the radiators are lukewarm when you touch them, but not throwing out any heat, and the gas fire gave up the ghost months ago. :-(

Am hoping football training for DS2 will be called off tomorrow just so I have an extra payment I can send to Very. I want everything paid off NOW. It's been such a long month and it's going to be a very long five years.

Next Thursday?! Can you play the "but I've got kids in the house" card??
  • It's not really heating blokey's fault, he could have come on Friday morning but we can't get time off work. He's then having Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing day off work, so Thursday is not too bad really. we can keep warm by layering, I guess, things could be worse

  • Money update:

    Money in purse £5.15
    Money in change box £15.80
    Money in bank: £207.20
    Grand total: £228.15
    Days left til payday: 11

    Debits
    £4.00 - athletics on Tuesday
£2.00 - bus fare for DS1 (but i found a pound coin in a pair of jeans yesterday so I'm a quid up in my box)
    £2.95 - calpol
    £12.00 - DS2's school dinner cheque
£1.98 - itunes (I need Olly Murr in my ears)
    £10.00 - DH cash Tuesday

Confiscated the bank card from him yesterday but he says he needs it today. I've shouted at him as he appears to be getting back into his £10 a day cash withdrawal habit now he's smoking again - well he can bog off.

Boiler went off through the night last night so radiators were clap cold this morning. Turned boiler back on, and radiators have heated back up. The upstairs ones are actually an acceptable warmth but the downstairs ones are just lukewarm, possibly an airblock somewhere? We've narrowed it down to the one at the bottom of the stairs and DH bled it last night and loads of black water came out. Hopefully it wont be mega expensive to put right and to be honest if he can get my fire fixed then fixing the central heating wont be a major priority

    Money in change box £9.80
    Money in bank: £179.20
    Grand total: £190.45
    Days left til payday: 10

    Spends:
    £10.00 - cash DH
    £4.00 - Lottery
    £2.70 - post office
£1.00 - charity donation in lieu of Xmas cards at work
    £4.00 - athletics
    £2.00 - DS2 bus fare
    £14.00 - Very

DS2's footy training was cancelled (again) yesterday! (£3) however he chose to go to athletics instead (£2) so I transferred the £1 difference to Very along with my monthly "Take 3" payment of £13.

I got paid today but it's into my bills account so not for spends, at my previous job I would have got £1091, and today I have got £1165 but some of that is my Xmas bonus, but I will transfer the £74 extra into my Very account (Hell, it'll be paid off by next week!!! - whoop whoop)
