Day 3 Spends (Sunday)
£10.00 - drinks in pub
£55.00 grocery shopping
£20.00 - money in a card for BIL's birthday
£5.00 - money in a card for DS2's friend's birthday
Money left in bank: £147.47
Money left in purse: £0.00
Money left in change box: £15.22
Total money left: £162.69
Days til next pay period: 5
Was a bit shocked at how much the grocery shopping came in at, £55 isn't a lot but that was only for around 5 days worth of food plus sandwich stuff AND I had a list too.
Both kids football games were cancelled, and they didn't train on Friday either, so I have put their combined subs of £6 towards the Very bill, so that is now down to £199.00 (hooray)
Bit annoyed and spending the tenner in the pub. DH had a football meeting to go to which is in a pub so asked me to come along. I had 2 cokes and he had 2 pints so not much change from a tenner.
2 birthdays to pay out for yesterday, DH's brother was 16 so I put £20 in a card for him, and then DS1 had a birthday party to go to, so I put £5 in the birthday girl's card, which I felt a bit tight about.
Anyway, off to work now, have a lovely day y'all xEmergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -

£6.00 - Very
£2.50 - DS1 football
£7.50 - DS1 school dinners
£11.21 - Asda (DH going slap happy with the debit card again; I'll have to have words!)
£0.77 - book from Amazon for my kindle
£10.00 - DH cash
Money left in bank: £106.49
Money left in purse: £0.00
Money left in change box: £15.22
Total money left: £121.71
Days til next pay period: 4
Still got to pay out £25 that I owe DH for subs, he went and got petrol yesterday which hasn't debited, and I will need to get some petrol tonight too, he also needs to spend £10 on a work secret santa present.
Next week will be ridiculously expensive as it's Xmas party week for both of us.
Oh well, it is December. It only happens once a yearEmergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
Hooray, I've got a bit confused with my money and ended up looking a lot like I had less left than I actually did (YAY) so that's pleased me this morning (not sure how I have managed that....)
Day 5 Spends (Tuesday)
£20.00 - Petrol me (this should last me ages)
£ 1.00 - into a flowers collection at work
£30.00 - owed to DH for subs (thought I'd better get it paid back)
£4.00 - athletics
£1.00 - 'lent' to DS2's friend who lost a quid from his athletics subs, I bet I never see that again Grrr
Money left in bank: £59.49
Money left in purse: £50.00
Money left in change box: £9.12
Total money left: £118.61
Days til next pay period: 3
Did an estimated timetable for paying off Very and it looks like it could be earlier than the end of January
[STRIKE]Sat 08/12/12 = £20.00[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Sat 15/12/12 = £20.00[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Sat 22/12/12 = £20.00[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Mon 24/12/12 = £13.00 (usual monthly payment)[/STRIKE]
Sat 29/12/12 = £20.00
Mon 31/12/12 = £50.00 (payrise)
This leaves £56.00 and I need to invoice a doctor who I did some private medico-legal typing for, for £50, and the kids have at least two weeks off football training before the end of December so I might have it paid off for then :-D
Then the hard work starts because I think the smallest debt after that is around £1500.....Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -

£1.00 on Bus Fare for DS1
Money left in bank: £59.49
Money left in purse: £50.00

Total money left: £117.61
Days til next pay period: 2
Doing pretty well this week although it does tend to be the weekends where we spend lots of money, and this next pay period (Saturday this week to Sunday next week) does have two Christmas parties to cater for, and I will have my eyebrows and nails done (my only splurge on myself these days)Emergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
Day 7 Spends (Thursday)
£2.00 - DS1 athletics
£1.98 - 2 kindle books (me)
£2.00 - Very
Money left in bank: £55.51
Money left in purse: £50.00
Money left in change box: £6.12
Total money left: £111.63
Days til next pay period: 1
I did a snowball calculator on What's The Cost and if I can carry on paying £515 a month (which is what I am paying currently) I could have my credit cards paid off in five years.
As the youngest lad did not want to go to athletics last night, I have made a snowball payment of £2 to the catalogue so my balance now is £197. In fact, I'm £2 in credit because the debit isn't being applied to my account until February as it was BNPLEmergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
Hi HWF
Great to see the lists..I should probably do that but find it best for me to add into a spends diary which both OH and I can access. And my diary on here is just for me...guilty secret I guess:o
Good to see that pesky debt coming down. I am trying to scrape the odd pound and even pence across to my debts, every day.
Have a good weekend and Hope you can be as MSE as possible. I have decided not to buy any groceries...that'll help me a wee bit. It's not as if we will starve as have loads in

Have you checked out the tax thingy for washing your uniform at home? Might help save a little bit
Hi hun
Great you have started a diary, I will subscribe and follow your journey.
Re the laundry of work clothes. Might be tricky if you are PAYE so not sure how you work it, but if you are Self-employed, I get to charge £20 per month for laundry costs of hubbys work clothes.
How you claim this is your are PAYe I have no clue. Not even sure if you can, but worth checking.

Yes you CAN claim it if you are PAYE. See my previous post. You claim the allowance on top of your personal allowance and thus pay less tax each month, meaning you take home a couple of quid more.
