Lonely Cat- Updated

Hello

I posted last week about my cat, who seemed lonely!

Well, we took her to the vet and he did suggest that she coud benefit from some feline company, but nothing physically wrong with her.

We went back to the shelter to see a cat she had shared a kennel with, for a few days, as we had spoke to the shelter prior to the weekend and had arranged to go to see this cat.

This cat was 13 and needed thyroid surgery and medication, but neither would be an issue, however, prior to us getting there, someone had agreed to adopt her, so that fell through but glad she found a lovely home.

Sadly, there was no other cats there that could live with other cats, they were in pairs (I can't really have 3 cats) or unsuitable to live with another cat.

So, cat is still lonely and pining, she refuses to go outside unless the neighbours cat is in the garden, which isn't that often! and we're still looking for a companion for her.

One animal shelter wants to come and 'vet' her before we go to look at their cats! Not a problems but thought it was a little odd!

Glad she's had the OK from the vet but sorry to hear there were no suitable cats at the shelter - and TBH taking 2 who have been paired up and introducing them to a single cat probably wouldn't work that well so you've done the right thing (most likely pair would stick together & your cat would still be lonely or worse, they might gang up on her!).

Keep checking the shelters as cats come in all the time - re wanting to "vet" your cat - it'll be you / your home they want to check really not your cat (although getting to met her might help them with choosing a friend for her).

Fingers crossed she has a new pal soon

Oh. gosh.....can you tell us where abouts you are and maybe we can suggest other local rescues?
  • Try ringing the Cats Protection League. They often have a lot of foster cats in home environments rather than in catteries.
