I have read a thread with interest on nhow the dollar is at its all time lowest in 15 years and got me thinking:)
I would like to buy tow time shares now as the mariott prices them in dollars so i could get a bargain. But i know very little on timeshares.
Can anybody enlighten me as to whether i can use the situation to my advantage and how I could educate myslef ?
many thanx

I think that Marriot time shares are probably legit, but from experience if it was me I would avoid buying a time share full stop..... We bought one five years ago in Gran Canaria, and I have to say that we were conned, we've never used it and have discovered that its no longer part of RCI and no longer exists..... Please make sure that you do your homework before parting with your money; there are some good websites (timeshare council etc) that will give you good advice.
Good Luck

We had a free trip to Eurodisney by invite from marriott to try to sign us up to timeshare, it was hard sell and the guy was annoyed when we said no....cant say I would recommend..it was expensive and I am sure they will put up their prices for the British so it still costs you the same.Thank you to everyone who has helped me MoneySave0

Thank you for your advice.
Ihave been sent pirces and my god they are expensive hey ?
I have had a look at some resales as they seem better value for money.
Further I have seen them on auction on ebay.com and here they are at a very competitive price.
But I am scared cos I am unsure as to whether it is regulated and what if it turns out to be a scam and I loose my £4000 ?
I suppose I can pay with my credit card to cover me but it is still such a risk.
Any thoughts ??

Timeshare with anyone - AVOID! Marriott are probably better than a lot of them, but none of them will be a good investment (why do you think the resales are cheap?), you'll pay higher & higher annual charges, & can usually holiday in the same places cheaper.
So why do you want one - what do you want to get out of it?0 -
We bought timeshare back in 1988 in Lanzarote and I must be honest it has worked for us, especially when the boys were young, we have exchanged many times for holidays in USA, Canada & Europe.
We bought ours through Wimpey.
RCI used to be very good but have now seemed to have lost the plot, they bombard us with phone calls all the time.
We are going to sell it this year as now have a flat in Spain & do not need timeshare, we will probably get a pittance for it !
