Protection with credit card?

We are buying a bathroom and its costing the best part of £8000. We have the money there for it but enquired about paying it on credit card to get the points, but as bathroom company charge a fee this outweighed any advantage from points.
Now with all the stories I hear about protection when buying on credit cards I'm wondering if it might be worth paying the last 1/3 by card should anything go wrong with either company or bathroom.
I have two questions, 1, will paying part on card cover should anything happen to company? 2, although I have a receipt/ bill it isn't actually itemised so if something fails I can't tell actual price of replacement should I make sure I get a full breakdown?
Thanks
Gill

Paying £1 of the cost on your credit card gives the card company a liability for the whole job.

I wouldn't be hung up on getting a breakdown.
  • There are a lot of strategies for protecting our credit card these are following:
    1.Ask about multiple swipes
2.Never use credit card on a unsecured website
    3.Never keep multiple credit cards
    4.Keep your card in sight
5.Used purchasing pre-paid credit cards for online shopping

Get it itemised in case they fail to supply some items and then there is a easy chargeback for non reciept of said items. If they wont provide one, then at least make one yourself.

I guess you are paying the rest via a debit card. If its a Visa debit then if the company goes under. You still have non reciept protection as well as a few other options on faulty goods etc.
