Need xmas baby announcment ideas

Hi everyone! My sister is expecting her first baby next summer. She hasn't told our parents yet and she's not exactly the creative type. So she asked her creative sister... ME!!! I'm looking for good suggestions on crafty ways to tell them on christmas. she doesn't have to tell the whole family at once but she does want to make it special for them being that this is their first grandchild. Any thought?

here's what I've got so far:
Ultrasound pic in recordable card w/ heartbeat! (my fav so far)
me&gramdma/grandpa picture frames
show up to their house with some metaphoric 'bun in the oven' and wait til they figure it out
baby's first ornament on the tree

Any suggestions will be well appreciated!

Just sabotage the xmas crackers and put a note saying 'Guess whos going to be parents?' instead of a joke. How about putting a dummy in the cracker too?

I have no idea because I'm the least creative person possibly to ever frequent these boards.

But can I just say.......what a lovely, lovely thread.

We see/read so much moaning on here. It's just so sweet to see what you are your sister are concocting. And what a lovely surprise for Christmas Day!

Many moons ago it coincided that our PG announcement co-incided with Mothering Sunday - so I gave my Mum a gift of wool, needles & a pattern for a Matinee Set.

It took a while to sink in, before she burst into tears!

PS - No good for Grandad to be or if your Mum doesn't knit - but something along those lines as a joint gift? Flat-Pack crib?

  • My friend did this, she wrapped up a ball of white baby wool, knitting needles and a pattern for a baby cardigan. This went down really well.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
