Hi, I had the meter fitted on 21/11/2012. The balance to repay was £181.76.
Today a letter has come through the post, it says the balance is £288.93 and i agreed to pay off £7.00 per week.
I agreed to £6.00 a week and the balance was £181.76 as at 15/11/2012.
I just cannot get through on the phone and also because the difference between their confirmation email of 15/11/2012 and the letter dated 26/11/12 is £107.17 i would much prefer clarification in writing.
I don't trust the customer helplines.
And i've seen too many billing horror story's!!
Anybody know a way that i can get straight to the bottom of this?
I've just checked the PPM and according to screen 27 it has the balance as - £175.76.
All help appreciated.
thanks.

You need to check your final bill. It may have been billed to an estimate the day your exchange was booked. When the engineer exchanged your meter he will have sent a reading so that you can be billed the difference. Check if he left a card with meter readings on it, then check if your last bill was estimated.
There is also the possibility the engineer gave the wrong reading. As long as there are confirmed readings on your account this will be easily explained.
Re the weekly recovery rate, call the prepayment team on 0800 048 0303 and see if they will amend this for you.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
I've submitted regular gas readings - to which i have confirmation emails.
The final read on the removed meter is not much higher than the last one submitted.
You cannot get through to BG on that phone number - I have been trying for two days. Last call was a 45 minute wait!
I was on complaint stage 2 on 15th November - I guess I will have to reopen that as my only available option at this time.
Both the meter it self and the email I received dated 15th November have different information compared to the letter dated 26th November - Which asks for another £107 pound or should I say has increased my bill by £107 in 11 days and put the rate up-to £7.00 per week!!0
