Hi guys, its maybe not a great deal to certain folk, but we have started to try and budget, as we were just spending too much every month and didnt even know what on, the money was just dissapearing, and at the end of the month, the Visa was used to do us over. Finally, were at the end of Novemeber, and we havent had to use it at all this month!! Chuffed, haha. ok..... I am a sado!! :p

Cut the thing up and just use your own money.
  • That's brilliant - well done.

I agree with ILW - cut it up as soon as you can. What I have done is kept it at zero balance (you have to be SURE you can do this) as an emegency fund - until I can save the same amount as my credit limit (£500). Once that's done I'm cutting it up and saying goodbye to credit cards forever!!! With Christmas upon us - if the temptation to spend is going to be too much I'd just get rid.

It's a great achievement though - well done.

  • Well done Bigmaz, I did something similar & cut up the credit cards and actually managed just fine without them. So didn't increase my debt and won't reorder the credit cards either!

By the way, thats a great idea. Need to get our balance to zero first th, will take about 4 or 5 months to pay it off. Then will start an emergency fund like that. Would b amazing to have savings.
  • Well done OP.

The challenge now is not to use it for December and Christmas if you can.

Erm, not really. The fact that some people don't see this as a big deal doesn't make them fools just because you think it is.

Countless people use credit cards intelligently and make enormous savings with them.

Some might regard those who misuse them as the fools?
