Advice on HDMI Monitor

Hello,
I'm looking to buy a HDMI monitor to use a Microsoft Surface as a desktop. My boyfriend has the surface already (loves it) & has mentioned he'd like the HDMI cable and a HD monitor for Christmas. I could just ask him but would like it to be a surprise and I don't want to get the wrong thing.
Have done a little research and know I can get the cable from amazon rather than the official microsoft cable & have been looking at this monitor: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005QVZ79C/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0008YEZ7YB9V7H3VG46A&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=317828027&pf_rd_i=468294
Does anyone know if this monitor will be any good or if there's a later version with newer technology I should be looking at instead? I'm looking to spend under 150 but if there was something much better under 200 I could possibly stretch to that.
Any help much appreciated!

I'd suggest one of these, have recently installed 2 of them, and it's a good budget monitor. A recent Computer Shopper best buy too.

AFAIK Acer don't build monitors, so it will just be a badge job.
An HDMI cable is included with the AOC.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks macman. Could I ask why the AOC would be better than the Acer for a similar price other than the fact Acer haven't built it? Is the AOC a higher spec?Win £2008 in 2008 member no.168!0

They're both similar HDMI monitors. The Acer is slightly larger.
I could equally say, why pick the Acer?
The AOC does have a 3 year warranty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
