Ing decrease Rates On Web Saver

While I'm in rant mode... to have given them the benefit of the doubt, and then to be slapped in the face is the final straw. I shall not only remove my money, but clsoe my accounts as well - I normally leave a minimal amount in, but in this case I don't ever want to have anything to do with ING again.
I really do want to move my money from them but I shall wait a few days to see what rates do, if I move it now it will be hanging about on lower interest till I decide where to put it, I don't like ING or their practices but if I am going to lose interest I shall hang on till I am ready to move.

Hi, we have been with Ing since they started more or less when things were very good. We have around seven thousand pounds. Now, today and yesterday been looking elsewhere, had a form from ICCI but when it got down to nitty gritty, have to fill in cheques, send cheques, or do a BACS at the bank. The reason we really like Ing is its so simple to use, ie switch money from normal bank account to ing and vice versa, on an automated phone, absolutely no hassle and very quick.
Had a look at Icesave just now, but that is internet banking only, and although they have just told me its absolutely safe I really do not want to switch money back and forth on the net.
On this amount of money we are losing about £67 a year.
Does anybody know of a safe place with decent interest, on an instant access by phone, ie not net, not posting cheques etc,. I cannot find one only Ing!!! Flip!!
Any help would be really appreciated. It seems we are being forced to do our business on the net, and as pensioners, we really do not want to do that and have the worry.
Best wishes oap0 -
ps Have also looked on telextext, but not much there either0

Is there a reason why you are worried about doing your banking online? Just wondered only personally I much prefer it and I would hate to do my banking over the phone.

Hi Nilram,,thanks for replying, well yes, its the setting up, you have to put absolutely everything on the form, your name, address, d of b, bank account sort code and number, etc, etc, and although they say its safe, listening to tv and radio recently, it definitely is not, and with all the private info going on at once, so easy to pinch your identity.
I would not mind setting it up on a paper form, then doing the business on the net, but it worries us and shall now go on the ING website, as mentioned above, and tell them what we think of them.
We just hope we can find something similar to what we have with them now, but at present, cannot find one.
Best regards oap0 -

TBH I don't think it's quite as bad as you imagine, I am a very cautious person myself and very concerned with security but I feel that my details are safer doing business online than over the phone or even in the bank branch.
Don't take too much notice of all you hear from the media, a lot of items are written by people who don't really know too much about the subject but their main concern is getting a good story and not caring too much whether it is accurate or if it alarms people, The more sensational they can make their story the more they earn! People often get worried about people seeing their bank sort code and account number yet they have no worries about giving a cheque to anyone which contains all their details inc a sample signature!
We read stories in the press at how Mrs and Mrs Bloggs have lost £600 in a scam of their bank details but in almost all cases they haven't loss £600 at all because the banks refund genuine cases.

Hi Nilrem, cannot find the survey,?? regards oap
It just came up when I went to log onto ING, I don't think you get a choice to do it. Perhaps because they still have a lot of my case they thought I was a satisfied customer and they would get a favourable result !
TBH I really told them what I thought of them, I don't think I shall be on their Christmas card list this year! LOL

Hi again, well I suppose you have a point about cheques, numbers, and signatures, had not thought of it like that.
If you open an account on line and fill all the bumph in and there is no paper work, how do you provide proof of where you live, electric bill, council tax bill and all that sort of stuff? Do they not bother asking for that on line?
Will have a think about icesave then and try and pluck up courage to do it, but hoping someone on here can come up with an Ing package but with five point seven five percent interest rate.which we can operate on the phone ???
Best wishes, oap0
