New kitchen, opinions please.

I'm having a new kitchen fitted in the new year, need to decide on hob and sink, would like to hear others thoughts.
Have, almost, decided to go for an induction hob. I've seen a Neff with 2yrs warranty or Samsung with 5 years, similar price and specs, I'm swayed by the 5yr warranty on the Samsung, but then think is the Neff better made? What would you do?
Now to the sink. At the moment I've one with the main bowl and a little bowl, but find the draining board a bit small. Should I go with just the one bowl and a larger draining board, due to the layout of the kitchen I can't have anything larger that 900. I find the little bowl a bit of a waste of space, I use a washing up bowl so can empty cups etc while washing up. Any opinions.

I've never had a Samsung appliance, so can't comment on the brand. However, I have always gone for Neff brand ovens and hobbs as I've never had a problem and have found the quality very good.
The extra warranty on the Samsung does make it sound more attractive and I'm in a similar quandry at the moment in choosing a new fridge freezer. I favour Bosch which give a 2yr guarantee, but see one or two other brands offering a longer term, so am trying to work out what to go for.
As far as your sink is concerned, it's very much a matter of personal choice. Although I now have a pretty small kitchen, I've decided I really would prefer a 1.5 bowl sink as I make a lot of use of the smaller one.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I would recommend Neff over Samsung but then if you are likely to prefer Kia over VW because they have a 7 year warranty, then its a different argument altogether.
Are you getting a dishwasher? In that case why do you need the small bowl when everything you have can go in the dishwasher. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have a Siemens induction hob, which is, more or less, a fancier looking version of the Neff ones. I absolutely love it. No experience with Samsung, I'm afraid.
As for the sinks, I agree that it's all down to personal preference and how you intend on using it. Like cattie, I prefer a 1.5 as I can use the mini sink whilst doing something else in the larger one.0 -
I would personally never buy anything because of its warranty. You'll find whne you need it that it means nothing at all!
Sink wise, I would get a 1.5 bowl, for sure. Even with a dishwasher, I rarely use it as it costs so much to run, so that wouldn't be a factor in my decision making either.
Go for the appliance which best suits your needs!0 -
We have just put in a new kitchen. The fridge freezer is a samsung, choosen because my O/H liked it. The whole reason we got a new kitchen was for this particular fridge freezer. Not very money saving I know
. The other electrical goods are NEF (oven, microwave and induction hob) choosen because when he built the house 14 years ago the applicances he put in were NEF and were still going strong (sold them with the kitchen) very money saving
Our sink is a black granite. I love it 1.5 bowl. It's the most beautiful sink I have ever seen:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0 -
I'm delighted to have an opportunity to add my comments–I'll try to keep the emotion out of them.
We got a very expensive £20,000 plus kitchen 5 years ago, for the most part we are generally satisfied, the kitchen uses Neff appliances.
The Neff microwave oven has failed every year since installation, last December I was charged £194 for a repair, it failed again almost immediately ( within 7 days), after much arguing with Neff's maintenance agency 'BSH Customer Service' they agreed to carry out a further repairing January but at this point (after 5 years) claimed that the unit had been installed incorrectly and lacked sufficient ventilation. They insisted that I had additional ventilation installed before the completed the second repair, which was completed in April. The unit has now failed again (in June) I am waiting for their response to my requests for further repair or replacement. And I'm looking for a lawyer if anybody knows one.0 -
Have you spoken to your kitchen supplier about this? Assuming they supplied the appliances, they should have some clout with Neff to address is in a satisfactory manner. If they just supplied the furniture, has it suitably modified to accept the said appliance and provide enough ventilation?
Why has it taken so long for Neff to realise this?
I think you have a good case and you should speak to the kitchen people first. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
