Voluntary Redundancy

Hi, my mum is confused. She applied for her employers Voluntary Early Release Scheme and has today recieved an offer letter with a lump sum offer for 29th March 2013.
She is 60 and her current pension statement for that date is also reading a lump sum plus and annual amount. If she takes the voluntary early release, will she still get her pension lump sum and annual payment? I don't know enugh about it all and she can't get hold of HR to ask!

Thanks in advance for any information!

Comments

  • I don't think we can tell you without knowing the terms of the early release scheme. Its possible the lump sum is separate from the one paid by the pension.
A word of warning, pensions have the option of taking cash instead of part of the pension. Most people take it because the idea of a lump of cash is attractive - but unless you really need it for something you get far better value by taking the higher pension.
