Best safe savings account?

Hi Martin, I am looking to invest a 6 figure sum - any advice please? I don't necessarily want to tie it up for years but also have no plan to use it in the near future. I like the idea of having access in an emergency. Regards

Save in cash? See http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/safe-savings. Interest rates are poor at the moment and barely matching inflation.
Use your cash ISA allowance first, then look for the best rate you can get on easy access/one year bond etc http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/saving/article-1583864/Best-savings-rates-Isas-Cash-Isa-accounts-fixed-rate-Isas.html
If you want to invest ( stock market) and you have no experience, you might want to obtain the services (fee based) of an IFA http://www.unbiased.co.uk/
If you have high interest debt it would be better to pay that off( if you can do so without penalty) before either saving or investing?0
