Peugeot 306 HDI not starting
Yesterday I tried starting the 306 and the dial for the glowplugs goes up to nearly full charge, I turn to start it and it almost starts, it's like it blows one rev and then stops. Tried this 3 times, then tried it again when I got home from work and same problem.
This morning I've tried to jump start it but it just did exactly the same thing. Would trying to push start it be any different or should I call a mechanic out?

It might be worth pushing it a little to just turn the motor into a different position?
I'm sure someone will have some other helpful suggestions but it could be your glow-pugs need changing or cleaning... but equally might be a fuel filter or..... (lots of stuff I am out of my depth in)....
My general rule is if you can get it started give it a good run..... and if it behaves well after then happy times.0 -
I'm thinking it might be a fuel feed problem? The glow plugs light is working fine and it was starting fine until yesterday.0

put the ignition on let the glow plug light go out switch off the ignition and then wait for the light to go out try it 4 times then try starting it after the 5th time see if it starts if it starts would indicate a glow plug has failed.
could be that one or two of the glow plugs have failed.0 -

Yep, it could just be a temporary block..... as in if you get it working and give it a good ole run down the dual carriage way you might find its fine!
I'd try checking out a PUG forum..... you might find someone experienced the same....0 -

This worked. So, it may need new glow plugs? Are they easy to change?0 -

People think that once the glow plug light goes out then its finished. Thats not the case.
You should wait approx 10-15 seconds after the light goes out. Chances are you will hear a little 'click' from the solenoid. At that point your glow plugs are heated. Repeat again if necessary.
Sounds like you do need replacements though.0 -
Could well be the Lift pump in the Tank... Easy to do access is under the rear seats.0

When i had the same car my pump in the tank failed so got a new one and that failed a week later so somethink made the pump fail twice.
but if your car trys to start it must be getting fuel so maybe your glow plugs are knackered.0 -
Did a bit of reading, looks like it's best to get a pro to change them.0
