AA Vent/Warning

Hi, Just wanted to vent my frustration and maybe warn others about the AA.
I have personal breakdown and relay cover for the family car, my wife uses it occasionally. Anyway she broke down in Sainsburys last night while shopping, Not knowing what to do she call the AA for Advice, i was at work and not contactable. They told her she was not covered so they would not attend (far enough).
She left the car and came home, and waited until i got home.
Because it was late i decided to leave the car/callout until the morning when my garage would be open.
When i called back this morning from the car, they informed me that because my wife was not covered and had called last night i would now need to upgrade my membership to include her otherwise they would not attend  another £75....
I know it's probably all in the small print but i still feel ripped off.
And all they did was bump start the car and tell me to go straight to my garage..(starter motor:()

If you have personal membership that only covers you. As you werent in the car when it broke down I don't see why you thought you could claim on it.
Although you would have got away with it if your wife hadn't phoned. They are very watchful on this as I think alot of people when they break down try and claim on someone else's AA membership. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Isn't there now two levels of cover? Personal cover and vehicle cover?
One which covers the car and any driver and another which covers you if you drive any vehicle?
I got breakdown cover via the AA and I was given the choice online.0 -

Yes. Ironically the vehicle membership is a lot cheaper and the OP would have been much better off getting that (if they both use the same car)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
AA, RAC and Green Flag all now offer vehicle or personal cover. I'm just cancelling my AA renewal as the price for next year will be £268 for joint personal cover, while RAC come in at £149 thanks to hefty new member discount.
The other night I rang AA as my car interior light wouldnt turn off. The said they'd be unable to come out to do anything as it wasn't broken down but if I'd left it til next morning and got a flat battery they'd come out then! Seems mad and luckily the light thing did just sort itself out but I did wonder if they would still have come next day given the first call I made0 -

A lot of the supermarkets have a deal with RAC or AA to attend breakdowns for customers breaking down in the supermarkets car park.
I wonder which breakdown service have a tie in with Sainsburys?
