small hard drive, low powered CPU (only 730 on cpu benchmark), no hdmi out and a small screen, and you are of course paying a slight premium for the 'paint' job, is it priced about right? well its ok, it will do the basics ok but is going to be nothing special, and most laptops around that price seem to have simular spec

i would personally try and stetch my budget a bit and get something a bit better specced, but of course would depend how much you can stretch over you £170 budget (for that laptop including the upgrade) and what you actually want to use it for

for example for £230 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOSHIBA-SATELLITE-L755-LAPTOP-500GB-15-6-PENTIUM-B940-4GB-RAM-SILVER-REFURB-/360523897509?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item53f0e61aa5#ht_1461wt_1128 has got a much bigger hard drive, a CPU with roughly 3 times the power (scores 1907 compared to the 700 of the other) has bigger screen and comes with a 12 month warrenty instead of a 6 month one
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
