Hi all
I wondered if anyone knew of a hall for hire for a wedding either March/October 2009.
Preferably one that lets you use your own catering/alcohol - but this is negotiable.
As close to Aberdeen City as possible - probably no further than stonehaven/inverurie/ellon
thanks in advance0 -
hi kitty
maybe too far out for you (30miles). the victory hall in aboyne is a nice venue for a wedding . there are catering facilities and a bar for use if required.
wherever you decide to have it i can provide you with an excellent piper if you want one. good luck0 -
thanks cmonthedons
aboyne is maybe a little far but will definately put it on the maybe list
thanks for the piper offer but we are just having a small family wedding (and trying to keep costs down)0 -
Have a look at elphinstone hall it is in the grounds of the University.
They hire the hall for various things, you dont have to go for the wedding package.0 -
thanks aberdeen
i didnt know you could hire a hall at the uni without taking the package - which is a scary cost
oh went to the uni and would def like to get married in the chapel there - it looks it might be a more affordable option than we thought
i really wanted the reception in Saigon (def favourite restaurant) - but they are open 7 days a week so the most they could offer was an area to ourselves0 -
does anybody know of a decent farm store or green grocer in or near aberdeen where you can get some locally grown veg/fruit
i seem to spend too much at the supermarkets0 -
There are several small farm shops in Aberdeenshire but it does depend on how far you wish to travel. There's a fabulous farm shop out by Collieston or you could try The Store out at Foveran which would be slightly closer to Aberdeen. They mostly do meat but IIRC they have a supply of local veg too.
There's probably a few farm shops out the A96 way too and there's a bloke near Newmachar who supplies organic veg if that's your thing. There are also Farmers markers in most of the major towns such as Inverurie, Ellon, Stonehaven etc. Not sure how regular they all are though
hope this helps
Glitzkiss (a fan of local produce in case you can't tell)0 -
Not sure about farm shops sorry but there is a farmers market in aberdeen - little belmont street (i think its called) the first and last saturday of every month.
the meat etc is quite expensive (i think) but others have said worth it. but the veg is quite competitive and definately much nicer

Hey, yes was in last week while collecting my free DVD and stocked up for this year. Between that and the Boots 75% off sale I am just about sorted for Xmas this year.0
