Reasonable priced painter & decorator in North London

I am looking for a good painter who doesnt charge the earth to do my hall, stairs and landing - we have had a couple of quotes but they have been horrific.

Very happy to have foreign painters - the last English ones we had wouldnt stop talking every time they saw me and kept stopping for tea.

I am in the Finchley area

You think thats bad?, try working in homes when the lady of the house dont shut up, and your trying to get away to do your job, and she's following you rambling on and on.
This job I am on at the moment is a HSL, and I am scared to ask her anything, as its like flippen war and peace when she starts, its been a nightmare, and I am there another 3 weeks, as I am decorating the whole house.
I think I will have to have a chat with her (if I can get a word in edgeways), and trust me its very difficult.
Dont get me wrong she is a lovely lady, cant do enough for me, but wont stop talking!!!!!!
A weeks job turns into longer cause you cant get on, I have come up against this many times, and it is a real pain.
I like to greet my clients in the morning, they make me a cuppa, then I take the tea with me, as I like to get on, I spend 5 mins making small talk to make sure they are happy with the job so far, then I like to get on, as I have priced for the job and if I am talking, or should I say they are talking it does hold me up.

I live in Greater london, but North finchley is just a bit too far for me, as the majority of my jobs are quite local, hope you get someone soon.

If you want to PM with some info on your work, I might be able to give you a rough estimate,so at least you get an idea, but I do not that HSL is the most expensive job in the house ,but you need to tell me whats involved, is there loads of prep, doors etc, and how bad is the woodwork.

What exactly do you want doing to your hall, wall & stairs?

I live in Kilburn North London. I know a very good guy who lays laminate in stairs & floor & another good guy who did a superb job of stripping, plastering & painting. Both are Polish & cheap (compared to all the other quotes I got).

We live in a typical semi and want the wallpaper stripped from the walls and then lined and painted and the ceiling, doors and all woodwork painted. There are 8 doors painted white but all the woodwork was done about 3 years ago so are in good condition and shouldn't need much work.

Roses, please could you give me the names of your Polish decorators? I also require a painting job and don't want to pay silly money. I've encountered two Polish workmen and both struck me as men who take their work seriously.

    Thanks
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.

Lord Levy might be doing a bit of community service soon. On the other hand he could end up in Pentonville if Tony decides its time for a new tennis partner.
  • I'd love to have their details too, I need to decorate the ceilings in the dining room and kitchen, I am in Finchley too. :)
  • Is there such a thing -- I think they charge the earth !!!
