Is there a maximum Limit to PCNs?

Hello,
A discussion has just been going around our office about the maximum you have to pay on any PCN.
One of my colleagues said that one of her colleagues has had a couple of parking tickets in the last year, and has only had to pay a maximum of £30 for them - despite the PCN stating the fine was for more.
I know that some places will say things such as "THe fine is £75 or £35 if you pay in the next 14 days" etc. However, there is apparently some kind of reference to a law or caption somewhere on this website which she writes in a note, sends onto the body which fined her along with her £30 and leaves it at that - and has not heard any more from them!
I have tried to search the forums myself, but I only can find various advice which tells you to ignore 'unfair' tickets etc. So now I am very curious to know if there is a capped limit on PCNs, 'fair or 'unfair'?
This would be very useful to know, just in case any of us do come acropper to a 'fair' ticket (if there ever can be one) and don't fall victim to obscene over charges!
Thanks

She shouldnt have paid a single penny if this is a private car parking ticket. In fact you should go and tell her and all your friends this private car parking tickets are not enforceable. Ignore them and they go away!!!!
If its a council ticket thats another matter but even those can be appealedWhen using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
A strange question, given that she does not have to pay a PPC charge at all. Therefore there cannot be any question of a maximum charge. Why would you pay £30 to avoid a bigger charge that was not legally enforceable in the first place. As has been said, none of the above refers to Council tickets..I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
+1 to the comments above.
However, the old boys club for private parking companies - the British Parking Association's - Code of Practice suggests that they wouldn't expect to see these charges in excess of £100. If that's what amounts to a maximum charge. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0
