Capital One - not the 0% but the low BT rate

Forgive me if anyone has already pointed this out, couldn't see it with a quick search and I don't usually come over here ...
Watch out if you have a Capital One card with the low interest rate for life of BT. I have one, which I've never used for purchases, and I'm getting quite close to paying off the balance. I wasn't sure I could be enough of a 'tart' for a string of 0% cards, so this has been a cheap loan for me!
Today I got a letter saying that I would be automatically upgraded to a super duper new Platinum Card offering all sorts of advantages - the main one I could see was for Capital One, as it was a new interest rate on my outstanding debt of over 15%!
Only on reading the letter properly did I find a note that it was possible NOT to be upgraded, but only if I phoned them before 20 April. Which I have done! A bit of a struggle to persuade the lady on the other end that I really really didn't want to be upgraded, despite all the advantages, because the main one was theirs!
