Friday 30th November - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:
Morning all. It's my weekend now so today I'll be:
~Listing old freezer for sale on Gumtree. We invested in a chest freezer so we can freeze left overs, buy in bulk at a discount and store home-grown veg. OH is hoping to grow all our own veg for the second half of 2013. Gumtree is a free website where you can advertise the sale of your unwanted things across the UK and beyond. (Link). There are often things advertised for free on it too. This morning my local Gumtree is offering everything from free doors to free cockerels! (Link)
~Deciding how much of the woodwork in our new house we can leave un-painted and glossing that which needs doing with discounted paint.
~See whether nail varnish remover will remove sticky spots on laminate floor instead of buying metholated spirit. Will test a wee bit first.
~Watching to see if £8.25 is available from Quidco yet. I always try to get cashback through Quidco (Link), Nectar Points (Link) or my employer's Wow Points scheme. I have been using Nectar Points to get cashback on eBay and Amazon a lot since we've moved house. We've bought very little for the new house, on balance, but some things, like buying a Carbon Monoxide detector and changing elec/gas supplier were essential. These three schemes owe us £80 right now.
~Try to find cut price wallpaper border in town so we can finish bedroom.
~Buy today's Sun newspaper - 40p- for free Iceland party food voucher. TV Bizz Page 4 - Coupon for Pack Of 16 Mini Chocolate Eclairs. Must be redeemed today. "Each voucher entitles the holder to one free product, as specified each day for one day only. Offer is limited to one free product per person." (Link.) Thanks Nudge for this offer.
~Visit some of the sites for free Christmas things I posted late on yesterday's thread. It's post #12.(Link.)
~Daily Mail -55p- is doing a 5 free Christmas cards offer today on page 58. Not a huge steal but worth looking at if you or your neighbour get the paper anyway. The cleaner at my work saves "abandoned" papers for me. Why not ask your work cleaner to do the same? We get the coupons, my neighbour gets the rest for his fire.
~Daily Express -50p- is doing 25% Off Everything at Hobbycraft. Valid Instore Only until 2nd December. Page 47.
~Fix small leak under sink with PTFE tape from my late father's toolbox. That toolbox of bits and bobs has saved us hundreds of pounds.
~Work out a way of saving £10 cos my OH has accidentally overspent on her mobile phone budget by £10. Bless her!

Ohhhh thanks Ally - no Nat West's here but there are a few RBS ones around (both in town where I work and other towns nearby) which would be really handy.
I'm not wanting my salary paid into it (as don't want to change main bank) and not sure if that's an issue for bank nowadays (?) but would be setting up a transfer to it each month.
Will have a look at the RBS one! Cheers:TGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

My list for today:
Dig out new christmas tree lights to take back with charger for refund - £27 back to me
Liberated 2 more small bottles of toiletries in the shower from hotels this morning, washed hair in fancy shampoo from recent work visit to VERY nice hotel
Used leave in conditioner to minimise shower time
Check banking - move £co payment to wardrobe account
drop boots of later to someone on FB selling page - £5 to me
Meals from stores
List more on e*bay
Give birth - didn't do this yesterday
Try and do work expenses if I have time (although I've finished there are a couple outstanding as I still get some good benefits whilst off). Will need to locate credit card bill for this
Think that's all - have a great day folks :j0 -

You don't need to change your main bank to have any type of RBS account.
Call during office hours on 0131 549 8888 and say you want a new Basic account. They'll transfer you to TAS dept to open one there and then. And for a Basic account you'll not need to be credit checked.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
