In the Christmas issue of BBC Music Magazine the Choir of Worcester College, Oxford, conducted by Stephen Farr, comes top of our round-up of Christmas recordings.
And as it’s the season of goodwill, we thought we’d offer a digital copy of the recording – available on Resonus Classics – to two lucky readers. The album includes contemporary carols by composers such as Judith Bingham, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Peter Maxwell Davies.
The recording was given five stars by our critic Terry Blain, who wrote ‘Tired of the same old seasonal chestnuts? Here’s your solution – a wonderful collection of carols from the last half-century…Stephen Farr directs delectably sensitive performances, and the sound is immacular.’
To be in with a chance of winning a CD-quality digital copy of the album, answer the following question:
‘This Christmas Night’ includes Rubbra’s carol ‘Let us securely enter’. But what was Rubbra’s first name?
