how to get police checked if self employed in England

Hey Folks!

I'm a dog walker scotland but have been asked by an English girl who wants to start dog walking how to get a police checked certficate. In Scotland we just apply for a Disclosure Scotland certificate. But she and neither I know how to get a police checked certificate if you live in England and self employed.

Any advice?

I'm in Scotland too & very familiar with the Scottish Disclosure system but not very sure about the English system.

I came across this http://www.criminalrecordchecks.co.uk/ which seems to cover England & has a section for Self Employed People.

May be worth having a look or giving them a call as they're bound to be able to point you in the right direction. HTH

CRB check I think is the name in England.

I seem to remember picking up a form from my local Police station and it did take 6-8 weeks after returning it for paperwork to be issued.

In England you cannot get a CRB check on yourself, it has to be done by a nominated company / person for you.
