I must be at risk of being on their hitlist too!
I've been using FB for comps for just over a year and I noticed the other day that I have about 1030 likes. I had thought about going through and deleting some, but hadn't got round to it yet.
For those that have been banned like this:
- do FB tell you this by a message or does the life button just stop working?
- have FB said what part of their rules you appear to be contravening?0 -

Why on earth would a business stop people from using the facilities they offer such as 'liking'. Isn't the 'like' button there to be used? They should stop companies from breaking their rules and asking people to like and share ...
Actually, I just reached the limit for 'following' last week. I'd followed 2000 people and couldn't follow more until I'd gone through and unfollowed a load of them
I agree it's stupid though x
May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx0 -

I'll probably be getting a rap on the knuckles from FB too.
I've started to use the 'lists' option to keep better control of those running competitions, and so I don't miss results or new competitions.0 -
I think that what alot pf people forget is that Facebook is a "Social Network Website" and not a comping site. Maybe that is why FB is clamping down.
If these promoters would run their comps by the rules ie with an app instead of this ridiculous like and share carry on.
I must admit I didn't know there was a limit on how many "likes" you can do in one day, mind you I use my FB for what is meant to be for, Social Networking and do very few comps on there. The best things in life are free.....0 -
I don't think there can just be a simple "more than 3 likes a day" rule - I often do more than that.
However I can believe that if you are ONLY doing something like that, they may be likely to impose a ban, as it's probably one of the flags for 'non-genuine' users, which we know is something they're clamping down on.
Eg, if you are liking lots of companies pages, but don't have many facebook friends, don't make posts on your own wall (that aren't just shares from companies' pages), etc, then it may look like you have set up a profile just for competitions, or even spam, rather than for genuine personal use.0 -

How will they find you though? Out of their millions of users.0 -
Lol, I don't think they're looking manually!
I suspect they have some way of flagging up certain patterns of use though - how else would the many people we have seen posting on here saying they've been banned have been caught?
I'm not a computing expert, but I can't imagine it would be too difficult to have some kind of system that says if a user has (for example) <5 friends, 0 unique statuses per month and >3 likes in a day, then they should have a ban imposed. (Possibly have the less than and more than symbols the wrong way round - have never managed to quite comprehend them!). I guess they'd also build in some time for new users, so maybe only running it only on those who have been members for a month, or something. And there's all kinds of other things they could include too, eg visiting friends pages, posting on other peoples' pages, etc.
Of course this is all purely conjecture, but they evidently have some means of weeding out users they don't approve of.0 -
Aaah that makes sense. Just got to try and be careful, I guess.0
