When to book airport parking

We are flying from Cardiff Airport in August, and booked the airport parking when we booked our flights in February. I booked via Holiday Extras and paid £39.60 for a week.

Just had an email from HE and thought I would check the airport parking price, and it is now £23.92 for the same period.

So I have a few questions, should I have waited before booking, does it always get cheaper nearer the time? Is it like booking flights, as in prices go up and down all the time?

It's demand led pricing so if the level of bookings is less than expected the price goes down and vice-versa. Generally the price goes up once you get closer to the booking time, although I noticed the expensive parking sites at Heathrow did go down close to Christmas 2006 whilst the cheaper parking sites went up. So its pot luck really.

I thought with Holiday Extras you could cancel without penalty. If you can why not cancel and rebook.

Where are you parking at Cardiff because one of the off-site providers was prosecuted by trading standards for using an unlicensed site in a disused quarry recently. I usually use NCP at Cardiff because it is onsite, walkable to and from the terminal and you retain your keys.

We're parking on Airparks, onsite. Will look into cancelling, because I didnt realise you could do without penalty, will check first.
