Another "Default" removal thread

Hi all,

I've searched the forum and read some good tips on how to get this removed... though the crux of the matters appears that I'm stuck with it for 6 years (4 left now). Also hope this is in the right area of the forum.

I had a student account (Natwest) that went into default, as I'd moved address and not told them I didn't get any correspondence from them... completely my fault obviously, no complaints there. Once I found out about the situation I paid off the outstanding in full (~£750) straight away.

I've, since, done all I can think of to keep a good credit profile, I pay my credit card off in full, early each month; my phone bill is paid off on time, I’m registered to vote etc.

My plan is; to open a Natwest savings account and deposit, over the next few months £10k or so. Then I plan to write to them asking if they could remove the default status as a gesture of good will, considering the ‘positive’ business I now have with them, or I’ll move elsewhere… I’ll be a little more eloquent and diplomatic in my words, however that will be the jist of it. They clearly hold all the cards at the moment, though my hope is having a fairish size of savings with them may sway them to remove it.

Thoughts all? Thanks.

They won't, its as simple as that so I would save your self the effort.

It's a true record of your credit file so you are absolutely stuck with it for 6 years on total.

    Sorry to burst your bubble.............
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
