I beg to differ....Anglian Water is a supplier. I have a paying in booklet. I pay x amount per month (that is not upfront it is for an current bill.) So a supplier actually will let you pay in installments and in this case, more than over 3 months - infact gives you a year as it is allowed to be paid monthly.

Just to add, the end of this situation was that I paid it in installments, in the way that was agreed over the phone, in three installments. There, the bill is now paid off. I am glad that I stuck to my guns and did it my way.

So the point of the story is that you CAN pay in installments - WITHOUT paying extra upfront payments of a suppliers guessed future bill....even when your supplier then contradicts things, and tries to get more out of you...and sends threatening bailiff letters etc, just ride it out, pay your installments - even though they have sent a card and no dates....pay it when you think, and then like this you are not refusing to pay your bill - just paying it on your agreed terms (which they in my case had denied existed).

I will see to it that I have a very low bill in future as I now have a wood burning stove, and when the electric bill arrives it will be lower and able to be paid in full.:j

You can do anything IF you agree it with the supplier in advance ... which you did.
