Holiday with Butlins using Tesco Vouchers

Word of warning.
We've been saving our vouchers for the last 18 months to take our kids to Butlins next Feb. I went online to get a quote and was quoted £499.75. This meant we would only have to top up our £400 worth of vouchers by £99.75.
So I exchange the clubcard vouchers and get the £400 code in an email and in it are the Ts&Cs stating the voucher can not be used to pay for an online booking.
Ok i thought so i ring up to book the exact same holiday i got a quote for 30 minutes before online stating i wish to use the voucher and the price quoted was £700+
Without the voucher, she said it would be £499.
An absolute joke and my kids are now gutted as am I. To slap me in the face even further, we cannot get a refund of the £400 voucher back to clubcard points.
Why are there always catches?

Why can't you get the vouchers refunded? I've done this in the past when I had changed my mind about a reward deal.Chef1980uk wrote: »Word of warning.

Would you not be able to top up the money on the booking? I have done this in the past and paid the balance with cash (it doesnt ahve to be done there and then)SPC #1813

Same here. I just sent them an email explaining that due to family circumstances I could no longer use the rewards vouchers and how disappointed I was and asked nicely if they would convert them back to points and they did.
I know they say they don't do it but it's worth an ask.0 -
Yep, you can only use full brochure price prices when using Tesco club card deal tokens. Sometimes it's cheaper just to book direct and save the £100 odd and use on theme park tickets or days out places instead.
Tesco club card changed the rules in September 2012 to say that any unused deal tokens cannot be given back to turn into points.
An idea might be to just go for a weekend? It's cheaper or use the tokens somewhere else? Such as Park Resorts? They don't have Butlins on the tokens so you can use them on all the holiday deals.
Another risk is to sell them on EBay, but you need to make clear to buyers that it is a risk because they have your name and postcode on them and might be refused, so no refunds given. It is a risk though because the buyer might cause problems afterwards.0 -
I've returned vouchers to clubcard. I was told they can be returned any time up to the expiry date (must arrive back by then) - and they are then credited back to your account.
Who told you different? They may have changed the terms.0 -
The terms changed last year as stated earlier. I converted some vouchers back and they sent a letter saying that they would no longer be offering this service.
I agree with another poster, try use them at another holiday site.£2 Savers club £0/£150
1p a day £/0
