Buying some curtains - advise please

Options
I'm looking to buy some thermal curtains for my french window doors

The entire window/door measurements are: 120inches width x 90 inches drop

I am interested in custom made eye lit curtains from a company called 247Curtains.

Two questions:

(1) I spoke to their customer services and they recommend that when ordering I give the entire length of the curtain pole (120inches) and the drop (90inches) and they will manufacture 2 x (120inch x 90inch) curtain panels for me.

Is this not double what I actually need?

I was thinking of giving the measurements 60x90, so I will get two lots of 60x90 panels which I can use to cover the entire french window.

Their measuring guide is confusing for me:

Width (all headings)
Measure the entire width of your pole or track. If you don’t have one in place yet, measure the width of your window recess and add 30cm

Drop (pencil & pinch pleat)

Measure the distance from the top of the track or if you have a pole, the bottom of the ornamental ring to 1cm above the floor (2/3cm if you have not yet had carpet fitted but intend to) or 4cm below the window sill.

Drop (eyelet heading)

Measure the distance from the top of the pole to 1cm above the floor (2/3cm if you have not yet had carpet fitted but intend to) or 4cm below the window sill.

Note..
We manufacture all Made-to-Measure-Curtains to a minimum of 100% fullness (Double Width*) except in the case of eyelet heading in which case we manufacture to a minimum of 75% fullness. All Made-to-Measure curtains are manufactured to the nearest Half Width (1 Width = 130cm*). Please see an example below:

Track/Pole Width: 195cm.
Each curtain panel would have a fabric width of 195cm* generating a total fabric amount of 390cm*. This is to allow for a generous gather.
In Essence the the amount of fabric you receive will be approximately double the Track/Pole width specified.
* Fabric Widths can vary slightly (10cm either way)

(2) Which curtain material is better for insulation - cotton or polyester?

Thanks

If you just order the width of the doors then when you hang the curtains they will not cover the opening....usually to allow for a gather you go for curtains that are twice the width of the window or thereabouts.

I would go for something a lot heavier if it is heat retention you want.
All my door curtains are velvet or something similar.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

however if it was a choice between cotton or polyester which would you prefer for heat retainment? both come with thermal insulation layer.

Ive been researching around and when it comes to outdoor clothing people recommend polyester over cotton since it absorbs less moisture. However since my curtains will be indoors, Im wondering if the cotton will be better.

    Any help would be appreciated.

i got some curtains from 24/7 and they are excellent , i just measured the width of the curtain rail and the drop - they will make the curtains so that you can gather them up with pleats etc -
i ordered my curtains with their thermal/blackout lining - they wiegh a ton but they do keep the heat in

Karnan, I bought my thermal lined curtains for the patio doors from ebay. Had to bid up to get them as several people also bid.
I paid about £40 in the end. Cream with gold leaf.

Just thought it might be worth a look if you do not mind pre owned but in good condition.
