Usually, the initial consultation with a solicitor is free. I would ring a few and ask the question.
If you then decide to progress the issue, the solicitor should give you a WRITTEN estimate or breakdown of their costs, including the VAT.
  • Depends on your situation, legal aid is possible if you have low income. As said above the initial consult will be free. You could also have cover on you home insurance which many people don't know about.

Depends on what the situation is really.
  • I phoned the Labour Relations Agency who after a brief chat gave me details of the Law Centre NI.

I rang them and an adviser rang me back. while he did say that I might need to take specialist legal advice, he did spend 40 minutes on the phone with me, was incredibly helpful, and it didnt cost a penny

    well recommended
  • Sorry if this sounds like i'm standing up for employers here but really I'm not, I'm just raising the real issue.... A seamingly growing issue.....
Companies are trying to get rid of staff to cut costs if business is not going well but they seem to be increasingly making a complete balls up of the processes hence people threaten to or proceed to take them through tribunal....
If the HR departments in these companies were any good, they would find it is perfectly OK to make people redundant or indeed sack them if they make serious balls ups. BUT there are processes that have to be followed!! Follow the processes, treat the staff with respect, do everything by the law and (granted it will take a slightly longer time) but it's result in the end will be fair and legal!

(Alternatively, if you are in the Public Sector and make a complete balls up, you just sit and wait till you get transfered to a different Department!! :rotfl:)
  • thanks everyone, will try CAB or LRA, just want some advice?
