You could try Sri Lanka - i've been twice, the last time was last February half term with Mercury Direct. We only went for a week but it was less that £1k (all inclusive) and any other time will probably be cheaper. Weather was lovely and the island's beautiful.0

Have you thought of education tours? They can be AI but usually a company will create the ideal package around your interests, so you can have sun, sea, sand, and you can learn something about the culture, language, history, as well as seeing monuments or attractions of wherever you’ve chosen to visit!0

How about Egypt? we have just returned from a week AL at Fort Arabesque in Makadi Bay, when we left it was 32 deg and when we landed at LGW it was -2!!
Fab hotel great all year round weather. Never a hint of any 'Egypt troubles'
We are doing a Red Sea cruise in Jan, how about that?0 -
I'm not a fan of AI , there is a lot of very nice accomodation in the Carribean , we pick somewhere that we can walk to bars and restuarants , food is normally much much better then you will get in the resorts , food prices vary , but i would comparable to here , and certainly much cheaper then an AI resort . You wont of course get all the 'free' activities but you will get to see much more of the country you are visiting .
However not sure £700 is going to get you far tbhVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
The Canaries and even Egypt are a hit or miss in Jan/Feb. The only places I have been to which guarantee sunshine would be the Caribbean or the southern Indian Ocean (Mauritius, Maldives etc). We keep going to the same apartment hotel in Barbados and go self catering but in Grenada where the accom is much cheaper we went AI. Happy to pass on details of anything we've done.
Do bear this in mind though: all islands have rain. The microclimate of the islands creates it and needs it. In Barbados for example it rains for about 10 minutes every morning - torrential rain. Five minutes later though everything is dry and the greenery is steaming. You grow to welcome this little respite every day.0
