Help with debts

Hi
I am after some help and advice. in 2009 I was diagnosed with a mental health issue, i get high rate care. I had the condition since 2001, but never diagnosed.
Over the years I have accrued debts, mainly from not being able to manage my finances and not enough income. I ended up in that vicious cirlcle of borrowing etc.
Now I am getting back on my feet with help and off medication. My condition is long term and does affect my ability to deal with money.
I want to get my credit back on track, to eventually hopefully buy a property. I have a regular pension and trying to build a new career.
The option I have thought are:
1/bankruptcy
2/contact creditors, ask if they will consider a settlement and allow e to pay, then because of my health, ask them to remove my negative status on credit files.
Bankruptcy be easy, not after easy, just after waht is the best way. I want to move in two years and know i will have a set income for some time.
Any help please

You would be better posting this on the debt help board, people on there will be able to advise on dealing with your debts and possible bankruptcy.
With regards to getting negative status/defaults removed that would'nt be possible. Even though you have health problems the debt is still owed.0
