Help negotiating with BT Please

I'm a long time BT customer and I'm moving home. I'm going to need a new line installed as it is a new build. I've paid upfront with the Line Rental Saver and what I've been told so far is I can have a new line installed for 'free' and the line rental saver will continue but I have to sign up to a new non-discounted broadband package for 18 months!
I'm not massively happy about loosing my discount for so long, I'll be paying £13 a month, instead of £8.25 which is still massively higher than what plusnet are offering right now at £3.24.
What negotiation options do I have?

Hi caleler,
Their on dodgy ground there, as theres no reason why your current contract (and discount) cannot continue. Complain, is my advice, via the BT forum Mods.
Register on the forum and post your problem here -

And then contact the BT Moderators re the issue -

As I believe you've been fed a crock of sugar, re the above.0 -
Thanks for such a quick response. When I called up to enquire the agent basically implied that I was a fool for considering cancelling with BT as I'd loose money. I felt it was rude but only after they ended the call did I realise!0

Just a quick update for others who may read this thread. There is no way around this so I wasn't advised incorrectly when I first contacted BT. Where there is no active line you either take a package with free connection or pay £130 connection fee and keep your current services. It looks like I'll have to pay the connection fee as it works out cheaper in the long run.0

You should be able to have a BT line installed for £40 (saving £90 over the usual £130 price)
You need to sign up to an 18 month package (can be weekend calls only which is no extra cost, but not Line Rental Saver). You need to make a minimum 10 calls per month but these can be inclusive within your calling plan.

The £90 saving over 18 months is more than you would save on Line Rental Saver over the same period I believe.
Free line installation (without bb) is not currently on offer as you say.0 -

doesn't really help as then the OP will need to pay another provider for broadband which is a lot more expensive if your phoneline is with someone else.0
