Onequote Direct - Admin Charges Warning !!

Just renewed my car insurance, following a search using the Comparison Sites I ended up going with Onequote Direct as they appeared to be the most competitive. Foolishly I didn't check this company out before committing to purchase.

Just looked through my documents and found this paragraph :

"Additionally, if we undertake processing work in making a mid-term change or cancelling the policy we make an administration charge to cover the work involved in changing your policy on behalf of your insurer. This administration charge will be £50 for all mid-term changes, adjustments, alterations, cancellations, copy policy or duplicate documentation, and renewal transaction. These amounts are in addition to any charge imposed by your insurer. A charge of £20 may be made to set up or renew a direct debit agreement"

So even if I now cancel within the cooling off period, I will be stung for at least £50 admin fee.

My own fault for not checking this lot out, and going with the cheapest quote. £50 admin fee is a joke !!!

Also had a call from OneQuote Direct today and the guy sounded like a proper used car salesman, and all he wanted to do was sell me Breakdown Cover, Courtesy Car Cover, Lost Key Cover etc etc etc. I realise all companies do this now, but this was the least professional sales call I think I have ever received from anyone. That's what initially set the alarm bells ringing and made me go thorugh the documents in detail !!

Hope I don't change my car in the next 12 months, or have to make a claim...................

Yes. Most insurers have admin fee's.

The cheaper ones tend to charge more. Simple solution is dont make changes mid term.

  • You may make a claim.
    You may move address.
    You may change your car.

You may have to pay an extra £50 with another insurer if you didn't want to pay a charge for any of the above.
So the way I see it is you probably will save £50 by going with this company.
