Eon is over charging

Then it's clearly wrong and they owe your MIL!
I know they do, I mainly wanted to publicise this so that others can check to see if this is one of the following :-- a systemic fault with eon's billing system
- a fault with the billing for HeatWise
- an industry "standard"

Sorry everyone.
I have just found a flaw in the spread sheet I use to calculate my electricity bill.
It is something to do with rounding.
No wonder my Eon bills and my spread sheet never agree.0 -
Hi Mike
On your Mother-in-Laws tariff, during each 12 months, we'll charge 900 kWh at the primary, tier 1 rate.
Because of billing dates and meter reading dates, quarterly bills can be less or greater than the perfect 91.25 day quarter (91.50 in a Leap Year).
In a standard year, we divide 900 by 365 = 2.46.
We, then, multiply 2.46 by the number of days in the billing period.
This will even itself out over a 12 month period.
In the example you quote, though, the billing period should be, as you've said, 91 days. This is between the current and previous meter reading dates. The billing date isn't relevant here.
What you've said certainly doesn't sound right and I'll be happy to take a look for you Mike. Just drop an email to the address in my Profile.

Just sent an email to WebForumAdvisors@eonenergy.com <WebForumAdvisors@eonenergy.com>; with the readings requested
The email message begins with :-
"Hi Malc,
Please find attached details of my mother-in-laws, erroneous bills.
Please can you get the billing software looked at and if necessary changed to ensure that ALL customers are billed correctly when the billing date is NOT the date of the last meter reading."Regards

Hi Malc
Thanks for your swift reply.
For the benefit of others I am quoting the source of the problem below.I’ve looked at this in detail and traced the problem to a series of software updates we’ve been carrying out over the last few months. Whilst most have gone through smoothly, there have been a couple of anomalies.
This will all be brought back into line over the course of 12 months.
Please everybody check your bills.
Thumbs up to eon, this is a good example of the web working well.Regards
