Personally i think £2000 is a good budget for a reliable car. It works for me.

5 year old mondeo for £2000 ish. Current one owned for 3 years now. £600 or £700 spent on it in 3 years. Servicing, Modifying and other bits.

Thats going to go up £150 ish. I will need a pair of tyres soon.

But £3000 for 3 years worth of motoring and im guessing advertise it for £1000 it will be gone by the next day.

So only £2000 for 3 years. Thats less than one year on your mini.

Back when i was young and poor £2000 was a dream. £300 - £500 cars are your ticket.

I bought a mini (a proper one) for £45.... Needed very little work for the MOT.

Have you seen what they fetch now..sob...sob...

  • Having worked in a dealership as a business manager "the person who takes care of the finance" We saw a lot of people in the same situation. Depending on how her current credit profile looks. It may be worth looking at other dealerships. Sometimes you can get acceptance via different finance houses. Unfortunately if the credit file is bad then there is an element of rate of risk so you may not be able to enjoy low interest rates.

I hope you get it sorted out.
